Forum history
International Forest Forum is the greatest project
of Russian federation which unites specialists, politicians, entrepreneurs,
economists, scientists and managers. St. Petersburg Forum fairly has become
the centre of discussion of topical issues of forest industry of Russia
contributing to effective solution of this complex problem...

7-years Forum history accounts more than 100 held events, including
round tables, conferences, seminars, contests, awards, exhibitions, presentations.
Annually Forum presentations take place within the framework of greatest
world projects in Russia, Sweden, Finland, and Germany. Scenarios of forest
industry development up to 2015 were presented at Forum-2004, they were
outlined under the guidance of Coordination Council on interaction of
forest management and forestry agencies by the initiative of Confederation
of Forestry Organizations and Enterprises of the North-West and Vneshtorgbank,
with the participation of industrial groups of enterprises and non-governmental
organizations. In the context of demand and supply of forest goods, taking
into account the situation in all industries of forestry complex, and
wood goods production four scenarios of possible forestry industry development
have been outlined and the conditions of positive scenario implementation
which allows tripling industry GDP were defined.
By the initiative of participants there were established and still operate
Confederation of associations, enterprises and organizations of forestry
complex of North-West region, Association of wood housing, Association
of engineers of lumbering which present big, medium and small business
of forestry.
At the meeting of board of guardians of International Forest Forum which
was held on 16 July, 2006, the Council members representing both governmental
and private structures repeatedly declared that in a situation of total
market globalization the question on forestry subjects' efforts consolidation
is more than ever important for development strategy working out and improvement
of competitiveness of woodworking and forestry industries on internal
and world markets, and for confidence building between business and power,
between producers and consumers.
In August 2005, Confederation of associations and unions of forest, pulp-and-paper,
wood working and furniture industries was registered, its president was
Valery Alexandrovich Saikovsky, the Chairman of Board of Directors of
MGIL Group (Mezhgasinvestles LLC) (Moscow).
The International Forest Forum held in 2006 has become a worthy successor
to the International Forestry Forum. Three key industry events were held
within the framework of the Forum: the 8th International Forestry Congress
"Russian forestry complex in the 21st Century", the 6th All-Russian
Congress of Foresters and the 3rd International Junior Forestry Congress.
